Bartack is a type of seam, used wherever maximum bond strength is required, it is often also used as a design element, especially when using a contrasting thread color.

It is characterized in that the thread fibers are perpendicular to the direction of the seam, thus allowing the use of a higher number of stitches on a given section of the seam.
